Such a simple six letter word…and yet…more often than not, the most difficult one in the English language for us. We have all at one time of our lives, desired change; whether physical, emotional, personal or professional…for ourselves or others. How do you respond when you read that word? Do you become anxious and tense…wary and defensive? Or do you feel excited and challenged? The way we approach change in our lives depends upon our conditionning. For instance, perhaps you have lived in the same location all of your life. You were born there…grew up there…work there…and expect that you will die there…just as your parents and their parents have done before you. Chances are, you would feel anxious at a change in the status quo. On the other hand, had you experienced greater flexibility throughout your childhood…had you experienced many changes in a positive way; chances are you would embrace CHANGE as an exciting challenge.
Take a good look at yourself and your situation in this moment in time, and ask yourself what it is you would like to change…then note your anxiety level. As I advise my clients…small steps mean lasting changes. For instance, in weight loss…don’t go home and throw out all your white pasta because you have been told it is too processed and should be replaced with brown rice pasta…chances are, you would end up resenting the change and hating the new flavour. Instead…wean yourself off the white pasta. Begin mixing the brown rice pasta into it and eventually phase out all of the white pasta. The change is gradual and will likely be permanent.
One very important thing to remember is:
When you change on the inside, it is easy to change on the outside!
Your powerful subconscious mind is your strongest ally for change. Hypnosis is the tool that allows you access to your subconscious mind. So now that summer is nearly over, and change is on your mind:
perhaps returning to school; wanting to eliminate insomnia; de-stress at work; lose some weight before Christmas; or numerous other changes you might want to make…look upon them as challenges…steps to realizing a more positive future. YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK so change from within, and the rest is easy!
